When you build a pond there are a number of challenges depending on the area, but a consistent one is how to hide your skimmer in a natural environment. Often times a rock is set to cover the plastic lid so that it can't be seen from above, this does work wonderfully but in this case we offered a different solution. Rather than hiding it we turned it into a feature that both the koi fish and the people love. Inserted over the skimmer is an artificial stump, allowing access to the basket but hiding it from all public views. The entrance looked more like a rotting root system that fish can gather around.
